KITCHENER — Two police officers were dragged by a vehicle while trying to make an arrest early Saturday.
They suffered minor injuries. Two teens now face several charges.
It happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday at King and Water streets in downtown Kitchener. Waterloo Regional Police officers reached inside a vehicle to arrest a passenger. It accelerated, dragging the officers about nine metres before they disengaged.
They did not have to go to hospital.
Other officers arrested two men soon after. Both are 19 years old and have been charged and released.
One man from Kitchener is charged with dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene, assault with a weapon, obstructing police, assisting escape, and an alcohol-related driving offence.
A man from Waterloo is charged with assault with a weapon and escaping lawful custody.
