As a Waterluvian, have you been wondering how the very first Chinese Day Festival (CDF) in the Waterloo Region would look like?
Last week, all of the directors at WCCA (Waterloo Region Chinese Community Association) gathered again and had gone through every detail for the incoming CDF event. Then the program was finalized with the consideration to ensure the best viewing experiences for the thousands of visitors expected on that day. So here is a preview on August 18 – The “Chinese Festival Day”:
Time: 11am – 8:00pm
Address: 50 King ST S Waterloo (Waterloo Uptown Square)
There will be three themes in this festival: Performance (Show), Food & Culture.
- The performance part includes: dance, singing, Tai Chi, Instrumental in both traditional Chinese and Western style, Classics Chinese Poem Reciting;
- The food part includes: local delicacies from various regions of China, Live cooking kebab, special tea and drinks etc. (please make sure to bring enough cash for your ever-hungry stomach)
- The Culture part: there will be 5 exhibition tents where many Chinese traditional arts to be demonstrated there, such as pencil and stone rubbing with ancient technique, calligraphy, Tea ceremony, the exhibit on traditional clothes, traditional wedding ceremony and Tai Chi Kungfu etc.

The tent of “Ancient Rubbing Technique”, “Stone Rubbing from Qin and Han Dynasty” & “Chinese Calligraphy”:

5:00 pm: The Basics of Chinese Painting
7:00 pm: The style of “Li” Calligraphy
