Kitchener man faces 204 charges after string of break-ins
KITCHENER — A 29-year-old man has been charged with 204 criminal offences in connection with more than 100 break-ins and other crimes that took place over four months in three different cities.
Waterloo Regional Police investigated a break-in in Williamsburg in south Kitchener on Oct. 30, after a neighbour saw something suspicious and called police. When police arrived to investigate, they saw a suspect, who then fled. Police gave chase, but soon abandoned the chase for safety reasons.
Two days later, police arrested a man in that break-in. He was sitting in a vehicle reported stolen from Peel Region. The arrest led them to a Kitchener residence, where they found a large stash of stolen goods — enough to fill two police vans — including flat-screen television sets, laptop computers, cell phones, cash and video game consoles.
Further police investigation led police to charge the man, who spends time living in both Kitchener and Brampton, in connection with more than 100 crimes, including break-ins, stolen vehicles, possession of stolen property and possession of drugs, that occurred in Waterloo Region, in Peel Region and in Guelph between August to November of this year. |
