Psychological counselling and free course tutoring for high school students (Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology)
Zhi Hong (Sarah) Chen, RSW MSW • 2020 06 28
Summer Class: Enhance learnings and grades

All high school summer courses in Canada are online this year due to the pandemic, which is a great challenge for students and parents. Because summer classes are designed to be intensive courses, they can be especially difficult for many high school students who are new to the liberal arts subjects. There is a clear difference in cultural knowledge between China and Canada: in China, science and engineering students can take their university entrance exams without studying psychology, anthropology, or sociology. In Canada, these subjects are generally selected courses in high school, and are included in the results of applying for universities.

With counselling and free course tutoring, we will:
  • Provide high school students with the opportunity to directly learn from an experienced psychology, anthropology, and sociology professional

  • Help high school students with psychological factors develop a cheerful, comfortable, and motivated learning attitude. Some high school students have traumatic experiences caused by bullying or other difficulties in school or their childhood, and their psychology courses may trigger these traumas. The situation reproduces a flashback, causing the student to be unable to concentrate on learning and completing assignments.

  • Adjust the student’s efficiency, motivation, and mindset to foster a healthy environment for learning, developing a wealth of knowledge and high grades

  • Guide students to combat procrastination

  • Help students find their voice during group discussions, and share strong ideas with their class and teacher

  • Enhance the student’s knowledge in psychology, anthropology, or sociology, improving one's own worldview, and give the student an advantage in university applications

  • Additional free tutoring:

A. Understanding of the course syllabus and how to plan their time effectively to achieve  higher grades
B. Understanding of the required assignments and learning outcomes in the syllabus
C. Analyze the teacher's requirements in the assignment, psycho-socio-political sensitive points, and analysis of key points

Insurance reimbursement title: Registered Social Worker
Duration of program: From June 29, 2020 through to the end of the course in July
Appointment type: Face to face, Video, or Phone. One-on-one counselling and tutoring with each student, with ensured confidentiality
