Residents oppose Muslim Assocation community centre planned for Erbsville Road
A request from the Muslim Association of Canada to rezone a piece of property on Erbsville Road to allow for the future construction of a prayer and community centre is getting some push back from a group of local residents.
Zhan Wang lives in nearby Laurelwoodand said he’s nervous about the possible impact on traffic in the area as well as noise and pollution.
“My rejection is nothing to do with the race, the ethnic religion … I respect all the people and all the religions,” said Wang in a presentation to council on Monday. “(I am) concerned about the size of the building, the traffic, the location, the need and the local residents’ opinion.”
